For this assignment I chose two famous papers, US based The Washington Post and England’s own Daily Mail.  The Daily Mail, a British, daily middle-market tabloid newspaper owned by the Daily Mail and General Trust, is the United Kingdom's second biggest-selling daily newspaper.  The Washington Post is the most widely circulated newspaper published in Washington, D.C., and oldest extant in the area, founded in 1877.  These two papers have been printing issues for decades and are listed in the top 100 of the world’s largest newspapers.  The Daily Mail is number fourteen on the list and The Washington Post is listed as number 57.

The similarities of both papers regarding the sports covered are that both newspapers offer a view a video feed for there top story.  Both website are very colorful and full of national, regional, and local sports news.  Both papers have pretty universal advertising on both sites.  For example, I saw ads for Geico Car Insurance, Eye direct, Check-n-Go, and Ad Council, just to name a few.  The reader can also share their articles through the different social media sites like Twitter and Facebook.

The differences in both papers regarding the sports covered are that the Daily Mail sports page is concentrated by soccer news while the Washington Post is consumed by the NBA playoffs.  The Daily Mail photos’ are much bigger than of the Washington Post.  It makes me free like I'm actually at the sporting event.  I think the biggest difference I see from both newspapers is that when you click on a sports story for the Daily Mail it’s published words from a sports journalist.  However when you click on some of the sports stories from the Washington Post, there is a video news report of the article.  If your looking for a article to read on the W.P. you might not get one.  Another difference between both papers sports is on the W.P. you know exactly who’s writing the different blogs and columns because their picture is posted on the website however on D.M. I had to do a lot more digging to see who was writing a particular story.

One thing that I like about the Daily Mail over the Washington Post was its 2012 Olympic coverage.  I was able to find very easily the link to the Olympics on the D.M's page.  They have create a tab just for the Olympic sports.  However on the WP, I have to have to search under other sports tab. then when I did there was little sports on there page.  To me there's no other sports going on out there that's more important that the 2012 Olympics.
