The Tony Hawk Foundation helps fund the construction of public skateparks through its twice-annual grant program. The summer 2012 grant season is now open, and communities planning to build free public skateparks that serve at-risk youth may apply through July 2, 2012 for grants worth up to $25,000.
The Tony Hawk Foundation mission statement seeks to foster lasting improvements in society, with an emphasis on supporting and empowering youth. Through special events, grants, and technical assistance, the Foundation supports recreational programs with a focus on the creation of public skateboard parks in low-income communities. The Foundation favors programs that clearly demonstrate that funds received will produce tangible, ongoing, positive results.
The Tony Hawk Foundation was established in 2002 to assist communities in their efforts to create safe, sanctioned places for youth to skate. Through its Technical Assistance program, THF staff work with community groups and local leaders to plan their parks, and over the past decade the THF Grant Program has helped to fund over 500 skateparks in all 50 states.
The Tony Hawk Foundation online grant application is currently available on the Foundation’s Web site through July 2, 2012. For more information, including details about Tony Hawk Foundation grants and eligibility, please visit www.tonyhawkfoundation.org.
A charitable, non-profit organization, the Tony Hawk Foundation was established in 2002 by its namesake, professional skateboarder Tony Hawk, to promote and provide funds for high-quality public skateparks in low-income areas throughout the United States. Since then, the Foundation has awarded $4,072,350 to 505 communities in all 50 States. The Foundation focuses on working with local officials and grassroots, community-based organizations that plan to hire designers and contractors with strong experience designing and building skateparks.
The Tony Hawk Foundation was established by a gift from Tony Hawk. Its directors raise additional funds through events, donations, and continuing contributions from Tony and other entities. In addition to skateparks, the Foundation also makes donations to other children-related charities, as chosen by its Board Of Directors.
