First Lady Michelle Obama announced, on May 14, 2012, a partnership on her initiative, Let's Move!, with USATF, USOC, and NGB's. She was joined by U.S. athletes, including Team USA track stars Bernard Lagat, Lashinda Demus, Wallace Spearmon and LaShawn Merritt when she made her announcement to the nation regarding her commitment to get more than 1.7 million American children active in order to help solve the problem of childhood obesity.
